How Many Bites Per Person for a Holiday Party?
The question that wrecks December budgets in both directions. This is the working guidance we use when we build a proposal.
December parties run long. If you are choosing between two numbers, take the higher one: holiday guests graze for the whole event rather than eating once and stopping.
Reception Before a Seated Dinner
3 to 4 pieces per person
About an hour of mingling before everyone sits down. Two or three selections is plenty: people are saving room and they know it.
Office Party or Client Happy Hour
4 to 6 pieces per person
One to two hours, no seated meal. Four or five selections, at least one of them warm and one of them a board people can return to.
A Party That Replaces Dinner
8 to 12 pieces per person
Two hours or more with no meal behind it. This is where a grazing display earns its keep, because it feeds people continuously without a service line.
Holiday Sweets & Drinks
A merry little finish, served as stations rather than a plated course, plus alcohol-free drinks for guests of every age and for the ones driving I-25 home afterwards.

Holiday Sweets
A merry little finish, served as a station rather than a plated course.
- Oh, Holly Cannoli Bar: crisp shells, sweet ricotta filling, festive toppings
- Red and Green Mini Cake Slices: petite Red Velvet and Key Lime, served on little plates
- Holiday Cookie Extravaganza: festive cookies inspired by traditions from around the world
- S'mores Bar: miniature candy bars, graham crackers, marshmallows for roasting
S'mores roasting setup is subject to venue approval. Our standing Gourmet Cookies and Double Fudge Brownies and Assorted Mini-Desserts are $3.50 per person if you would rather keep dessert simple. See the full dessert and beverage menu.

Merry Mocktails
Alcohol-free holiday drinks for guests of every age.
- Candy Cane Lane: creamy, festive and perfectly pepperminty
- The Grinch Punch: kids adore the color and the sweet, fruity flavor
- Cranberry Mistletoe: lightly sweet, bubbly and beautifully festive

Holiday Hot Drinks
Warm hands, warm room. Both come with a garnish or toppings bar.
- Holiday Mulled Cider: warm apple cider simmered with cinnamon, cloves, orange and star anise. Garnish your cup with cinnamon sticks, orange wheels, fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs
- Holiday Hot Cocoa: rich cocoa in festive cups with marshmallows. Add a toppings bar of crushed peppermint, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, chocolate shavings and cinnamon sticks
How to Book a Denver Holiday Party
Four things worth settling before you call. They save more money and more stress than any single dish on this page.
Reserve Early
Preferred December dates fill quickly, and staffed events fill first. Two to four weeks is the working minimum for anything staffed or over 50 guests. The second and third weeks of December want longer than that. Thanksgiving should be booked by the first week of November.
Settle Service Style Before Menu
Drop-off versus staffed moves the budget more than any dish on this page. Decide it first, then choose food to fit what is left.
Staffed Events Come From These Collections
To protect quality during our busiest season, full-service holiday events are built from the five collections above plus designated Silver Spoons favorites.
Ask About Off-Menu Favorites
Got a beloved favorite off the regular catering menus? Additional selections may be available with culinary approval and minimum quantities. Ask us. The answer is often yes, it just is not automatic in December.

Plan 3 to 4 pieces per person for a short reception before a meal, 4 to 6 for a one to two hour office party or happy hour, and 8 to 12 if the party is standing in for dinner. December parties run long, so round up.
Holiday platters and à la carte items carry a 15-guest minimum, the same as our standing party platter menu. Full-service collections have their own minimums depending on service style.
Yes, and it costs nothing extra when it is planned rather than added the day before. The Mezze Board and the Artichoke and Jalapeño Phyllo Tarts are vegetarian, Farm Fresh Vegetable Crudité is vegetarian and gluten-free, Baja Shrimp Cocktail and Spiced Candied Bacon are gluten-free, and Sweet Bourbon BBQ Meatballs are dairy-free. See more on our vegan and vegetarian menu.
Yes. Office holiday parties are the bulk of our December calendar. The Highlands collection and the party platters suit an in-office party on disposables, while the Cherry Creek and Ruby Hill dinners suit a venue event with staff. Our guide to corporate holiday party catering covers the planning side, and our corporate catering menus cover the rest of the year.

Yes. The Ruby Hill and Cherry Creek collections both work as a Thanksgiving table with a turkey substitution, and our platters travel well to a house. Book by the first week of November, because the kitchen closes its list earlier than people expect.
